INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMS AND TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE - Charter - The Instructional Programs and Technology (IPT) Committee provides oversight for District Educational programs and initiatives. Additionally, as the District supports the utilization of technology to enhance teaching, learning, and overall productivity, this Committee oversees District Technology programs and initiatives. Thus, the IPT Committee makes recommendations to the Board of Education on educational matters pertaining to curriculum, instruction, and technology. This Committee reviews and monitors the effectiveness of educational programs, both curricular and extra-curricular, and reports findings to the District Superintendent and Board of Education. Additionally, it supports the role of research and exploration (e.g., pilot programming) to inform decisions pertaining to curriculum, instruction, and the use of technology to enhance both. As a means of ensuring continuous improvement with educational programs, the IPT Committee is responsible for the following: • Directing and reviewing the development and implementation of planning tools, such as the School Improvement Plan, Strategic Plan, Technology Plan, and Technology Budget. • Monitoring the effectiveness of the curricular and extra-curricular programming, including overseeing the work of the Curriculum Coordinating Council. • Overseeing the maintenance of the Technology infrastructure, including the operation of the computer network, (e.g., teaching and learning tools, and productivity tools for non-classroom applications, such as library, office, and boiler room applications). • Maintaining a calendar of on-going Educational and Technology programming reviews and reports. • Coordinating work with other board committees as needed. It is recommended that at least two board members, the superintendent, and those serving in the role(s) of technology, curriculum, and staff development coordinator(s) serve on this committee. |
