COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMITTEE
- Charter -


1. Purpose

The Community Relations committee’s purpose is to provide a better understanding of the roles, objectives, needs, and accomplishments of the District.

§  Serves to maintain an effective two-way communication system between the District andits various publics,

§  Supports an organizational environment where District staff members are aware that they share responsibility for communication in a manner consistent with District decisions.

§  Provides an open forum for discussion of critical issues related to the management of District communication and information to develop a trusting and positive partnership.

§  Communicates and clarifies the district purpose with the goal of stimulating a better understanding of the roles, objectives, needs, and accomplishments of the District

 

2. Activities, Duties, and Responsibilities

Activities may include:

§  Develops a Board communication approach

§  Plans and facilitates activities to provide a two-way communication system between the Board and the community. (e.g. website, town halls, surveys, Q&A feedback loop)

§  Reinforces the communication channels to provide appropriate community feedback.

§  Coordinates work with other Board Committees as needed

 

3. Meeting Frequency

Meeting Schedule:  As needed

 

4. Membership

The committee will consist of at least 2 members of the Board and the Superintendent.  Community members, parents, administrators, and staff are welcome and may be directly involved in executing the communication plan.

 

5. Annual Assessment

The Committee will assess its activities on an annual basis and recommend any proposed changes to the BOE.
